Mirella Baker Bemmel, Ed.D.

Dr. Baker Bemmel is the author of Building Blocks to an Abundant Life: Design the Life you Desire, and an award-winning Sociology Professor whose impact in the community spans across a wide landscape that includes teaching, speaking engagements, training and volunteer work. She has earned the reputation of an exemplary teacher with a commitment to excellence. She has been recognized with the prestigious Children’s Opportunity Group Endowed Teaching Chair Award and the NISOD Teaching Excellence award.

Dr. Baker Bemmel continues to be a leader in her field, as she seeks out opportunities for innovation and intellectual growth. She is a sought-after speaker who demonstrates respect for the diverse population she serves. She has earned a reputation of being an engaging speaker who captivates her audiences with her knowledge and charisma. She has developed and facilitated training online and face-to-face and received national recognition for her online course design. Dr. Baker Bemmel’s service to the community as a volunteer, advisory to the Board of Trustees of a local non-profit organization and organizer of annual fundraisers to benefit the underprivileged is evidence of her commitment to make a difference in the lives of others. She is certified in Diversity Management (DMC).

Howard Housen, MSW

Professor Housen is a retired Sociology Professor whose mark in higher education spanned over thirty seven years. He held teaching positions at the University of the West Indies, Spring Arbor University, and Broward College.  In addition, Professor Housen’s professional experience includes work with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United States Peace Corps, and Peat Marwick and Partners. Professor Housen consulted Fortune 500 companies as well as not-for-profit agencies, and he is a respected expert on cultural diversity issues. 

For his excellence in teaching, Professor Housen has been voted Distinguished Professor at two separate Colleges, selected for the coveted Endowed Teaching Chair award at Broward College, and elected to Who is Who Among America’s Teachers. A frequent speaker at local, national, and international events, Professor Housen has delivered inspiring messages to such organizations as the National Conference, the Kiwanis club, the Society for Intercultural Education, Training, and Research (SIETAR), the American Diabetes Association (ADA), and the Maori Ethnic Revitalization movement in New Zealand. He is a certified Empathy and Emotional Intelligence Trainer (EEIT).
